2015 year review

Here we go. Wednesday night. Let’s write. It is the 23 rd and 24 th of December of 2015. Last one week of this year. It has been a year with some ups and downs (well, which year isn’t?) It has been an enjoyable ride for sure. This year began with it being the last semester of college. It created a very different atmosphere in our hostel. People were placed or were getting placed all over the place. We were happy for each other but also sad that the joy ride that was college was coming to an end. When the roller coaster goes up, you get a rush of adrenaline. But when the ride comes to a halt, you do not have the same feeling. I’m unable to express that feeling in words here (Help me!). We enjoyed the time we spent together, not knowing what is going to happen next. After being done with the education phase of my life (I hope I resume it sometime in the future, don’t tell my manager!), I started with the next phase. I landed a job at a company not many people knew (not that I

some nostalgia and random thoughts

Two weeks have passed since I last wrote a blog post. Not much has happened, yet there is stuff I can write about. Here I go; writing stuff that probably makes sense only to a few people. Birla Mandir:                 Last weekend we went to the Birla Mandir (again) and the Hussain Sagar Lake for sightseeing. Because we started late (as usual), we couldn’t go to the Salar Jung Museum or the Charminar. So we went to the Birla Mandir. It is a wonderful place, with a tranquility not usually found in cities. Also fresh air, which is increasingly becoming a rare commodity. After enjoying the view from the top, we sat down and started chatting. I remember being distracted, didn’t follow the conversation unfolding beside me. I see kids playing there and parents watching them. The sight really made me nostalgic. I mean, how wonderful it would be to be a kid again! No worries, no drama, no frustration etc. etc. Be carefree. No one will judge you. Pure joy. Slowly everyone started watchi

Not so good times

Arsenal                 It has been a horrendous week for Arsenal. A defeat and a draw in our last couple of Premier League games means we are down to 4 th in the table, albeit just 2 points off the top. Momentum has been hit hard. Our best players have picked up injuries and we are down to our bare bones in terms of a fit squad. There is something seriously wrong with our players/training/medical staff or fortunes and whatever else you may want to include. What is being done to rectify this is anybody’s guess. I guess hope is the only option left with us fans. Meanwhile we wholeheartedly support the XI that takes the pitch. A couple of players are expected back. Let us see how the situation pans out. In the next fixture, we are at home to Sunderland, perennial relegation candidates. If we are to keep up with the likes of City and United, we have got to win these games.(Also hope that they lose their respective games) Then we go to keep our Champions League last 16 hopes alive to

Home, and other stuff

It has been almost 3 weeks since my last post, and I have a truck load of stuff to say. It has been an interesting 3 weeks, and here I share my experiences with you. Time                 Time is the most precious resource we all have. It may sound cliched but, it is true. To give someone your time (by that I mean your undivided attention) is one of the most meaningful gifts ever and vice versa someone giving you their time and attention is the best gift you can receive. I managed to screw that up. I don’t think they read my blog, but if they do, I apologize sincerely, and ensure them that it will never ever happen again. Arsenal                 From an Arsenal perspective, there isn’t much going on. We were soundly thrashed in Munich, got an unconvincing draw against Spuds, and headed off into the international break. The next set of fixtures looks easy on paper, but is never ever so. The level of competition is too high and the stakes are much higher this time around. W
Ah, poha and tea: best way to start the day. It is time for the third blog post already. I am enjoying writing these days, and I hope you are enjoying to read my thoughts and opinions as well. Sickness                 This week’s biggest highlight is that I was sick for 6 out of 7 days. Being sick, I couldn’t do much. My backlog of TV series just got bigger and I couldn’t read HP6 as well. Couldn’t practice keyboard or Italian. It has been a miserable week to say the least. Hope to be in perfectly healthy before the weekend. Home                 I am so goddamn excited to be going home on this Friday. By this time next week, I would have written a post from home. I’m looking forward to 9 days of undisturbed peace, great food, festive atmosphere and most important of them all, great people. People for whom, you would give anything to spend time with. Stannis’s death confirmed                 Game of Thrones confirmed this week that Stannis Baratheon is indeed d

Calm and quiet times

Calm and quiet times Hello, and welcome to what is only my second blog post. Read on, I guarantee you won't regret it! Conundrum :                 In 2 weeks’ time, I am going home. It will be Diwali and I want to get my parents and sister something special. Not only special, but also meaningful. So Karachi biscuits go out the window. Also I will go shopping with them, so buying stuff which I can get there easily also doesn’t make sense. Novels are well appreciated at my house, so I am taking novels. But it feels insufficient. Art and craft stuff is also well liked, I could get those. I heard there is a night bazaar near my place, I can go and check the place out. The only problem is I really have no experience in buying stuff. If I buy something and they didn’t like it, then what? I will have to learn how to buy these things, and also look for quality in them. I appreciate any tips anyone can give me.(Actually the dolls shown in the below image are used in Kolu, the do

First blog post

Its turning out to be a wonderful week and I just had a fantastic day. So before I change my mind about doing something else, I am writing my first blog. So first things first. 15th October. My sister's birthday. Many many happy returns of the day to her on her b'day. Hope she has many more memorable birthdays in her life. She has her exams, so she was kinda busy. I'll take a party from her in November. Italian I am learning Italian as a foreign language on Duolingo. One of the best places to learn a language, better than Memrise anyway. I'm yet to start the BBC courses which are supposedly good. Duolingo says I'm 54% fluent in Italian, which sounds really cool. Maybe it is. I can form sentences which are used daily. In about 15 days or so, I will finish the Duolingo course. Then begins the BBC ones. Duolingo incidentally erased my 23 day streak, which is quite frustrating. I now start from a 1 day streak. Not that it matters. How much you speak, listen
