Harry Potter and the Cursed Child review

Yesterday I got my hands on one of the most awaited books of 2016: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! Written by J. K Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, this is a script for a play rather than a novel. Quick googling will inform you that Tiffany and Thorne are theater specialists, more than story writers.                                 First of all, thank you to one of my friends for lending me the book. And an even bigger thanks for buying a hardcover instead of paperback. The joy of reading a hardbound edition is totally different from a paperback one. The experience is just enriched a little more, irrespective of the contents of the book (Weird, I know!)                 Ah, what do I say about this book? I don’t know what to make of it. If I had ...

some great lines

Today I heard some wonderful lines and couldn’t resist sharing!                   “The world needs dreamers and realists. You would think the realists fall for the realists and the dreamers go for the dreamers. But the opposite happens. The dreamers need the realists to keep them from going too close to the sun. And the realists need the dreamers; otherwise they won’t ever get off the earth. ”                  -Modern family                  How beautiful! Go find your dreamer/realist!

Going home, Pune trip and more

Hola! Long time since I wrote anything, and here I am writing two posts. With so much happening, I have barely had time to breathe, least of all write a blog. Even today I just found time, because I am in a train, bound towards Kalyan, taking me away from Hyderabad for a deserved break from the mundane.                 I had to make an extremely difficult choice, one that I did not want to nor that agrees with my nature. But facing the truth is better than being under a delusion, only to be disappointed at the end. I cannot give keyboard exam this time. L (Sobbing inside) I am just too underprepared, and frankly, I have heavier things on my plate. The teacher thought 3 months would be enough, even I felt so. But it wasn’t meant to be. The exam comes too early for me, and I, despite wanting to, cannot practice and perfect the syllabus on time to p...

Questions

Questions How awesome they are! Do you go 5 minutes without asking one? Be it in my mind or out loud, questions continually pop up in my head. What questions you ask? Oh, questions related to anything and everything. Some really good ones, some bad ones, some evil, some sad, some angry, some curious, some genuine, some fake, some new, some old. Many questions are repeated over the weeks, months, or even years. Is the purpose of life to find answers to our questions? (Note that even this statement became a question!) Do you remember the times you used to question everything? How does a car work? How does a lorry work? Why do I have to go to school? When can I eat ice cream? Where is the train? When can I go to play? When will I get older? What is the meaning of this? Why is she sad? How do I do this? These were probably easy ones. People answered them, most of the times convincingly. They thought I asked too many questions. Even then, they took pains to answer me. Sometimes they...

A thing of beauty

A thing of beauty is a joy forever. Hi, here I go again. I am in an absolutely wonderful mood today. I am filled with joy. And I will attempt to share my joy with you (and cheer you up if your day isn’t going as planned, or make you happier if you already are!).                 The above is a picture of my rose plant. It has been around 8 months since I got her. Every day I wake up to this beauty. What a great sight to begin your day with! If this does not change your mood, I don’t know what will. (I am actually facing difficulty putting this feeling to words. J ) I water her every day, and that’s it. She rewards me with this spectacle every morning. I suggest every plant lover to keep plants at their house. See...

Badminton over weekends

Location: Centre Court, Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy                                                 Scene: Mixed Doubles                 J and I vs H and Sr. Score: 6-9. I am not very happy. Neither is J. We both gave away cheap points on serves. H and Sr are good. Very good.                 Some context: Actually, H is a guy with good technique. You wouldn’t want to give him easy shots ever; he will pick his spot and hit an extremely fierce shot, one you can’t even think of getting to...

End of the season, new learnings

Hello all, a week has passed by with blistering speed and I just got time to write. As I start writing, I can smell the aroma of roasted coffee beans. Ahhhhhhhh. Feels so good to smell that fragrance after a long time. Yesterday was the UEFA Champions League final, which I did get to watch despite shitty internet. (Thank you roomie for eating up all the usage and giving us bad speed K ) Real began well, put Atletico under some early pressure. They got the early goal as well, Ramos bundling the ball from Bale’s flicked header. I thought Real got their tactics spot on in the first half. They denied Atletico space, cut out the passing lanes and forced full backs to cut inside, which rendered them useless in my opinion. Atletico had some shots on target, but nothing that worried Keylor Navas much. The second half was where Real took their foot off the pedal and Atleti started to take control of the game. Zidane played his cards right: Atletico can’t do much with the ball. They aren’t...
