vacation with family

Long time since I have written something, so I thought I might start catching up with it this weekend. First up I went with my family on a trip to north India. Manali, Amritsar, Delhi and Agra were the places we visited. I won’t be doing them justice without describing them in detail.                 Manali was the first on our itinerary. Truly one of the most beautiful hill stations I have visited. The weather there was so comforting after suffering the Hyderabad summer’s sneak peek. The temperature must have been around 15 or 20 degrees. Compare it to Hyderabad where it seems the sun is extra closer to the earth. As I am writing this I am missing Manali’s weather. We went to Solang Valley the day we reached there. Solang Valley is a treat to the eyes even in April; imagine how it must be during January. We had to climb up the mountain a fair bit to see snow, but it was worth it. My mother and father did...

Weirdly Happy

Today I feel happy. Weirdly happy. I mean, I have no particular reason to be joyous, but I still am. I had an absolute nightmare of a day. I slept late yesterday, survived the day on coffee, and I was handed important work on the very day I couldn’t concentrate. The weekend pretty much sucked, I didn’t get to read anything, and in general I didn’t do anything noteworthy. But today I still am happy. Something good must have happened. So let us do the usual updates. Arsenal. The performances have been below par for quite a while now. Four wins in the past fifteen games is not form to be proud of. We are out of the race for the Premier League title, have spurned the chance to make history in the FA Cup and have shot ourselves in the foot massively against Barcelona. I am not at all that optimistic about the return leg at the Camp Nou. But still I am optimistic about our season. Why? The romantic in me refuses to let go. The cynic inside me say...

some updates and advice

It has been a very long time since I last wrote a post. Plenty of things have gone on in the past month, and I will lay it out in this post.                 This person               “This person” is a colleague of mine about whom I wanted to write a long while ago. A truly wonderful person, if you ask me. Before I describe more, I should let you know that I don’t know “this person” very well. I have formed my opinions based on my few interactions over the past few months. Now that we are done with the disclaimer, I proceed to describe “this person”. I’m not even going to bother with a physical description. The first thing that struck me about “this person” is how positive he/she is. Fantastic positive attitude and a smile on his/her face every damn time. I don’t think I have ever seen “this person” without a smile on his/her face. I know for a fact how difficult this is...

Normalcy is also good

Ciao, Salut, Vanakkam, Namaskaar, Namashkaar and hello to everyone. A week has flown by. It hasn’t exactly been interesting or dull. I guess you get these days interspersed with good and bad days. Oh boy. I suck at introductions. Please bear with me! Ethnic day at office Today ethnic day was celebrated at my workplace. I didn’t participate or anything. My reason was quite obvious. So I just observed others enjoy themselves. People had made a lot of effort for today. Lots of people came in kurtas, pajamas, sarees, ghagra cholis and more. One guy turned out quite shrewd. He brought his attire in his bag, hoping to judge the scene. On seeing that there was company for him, he wore kurta pajamas. Nice move, man. Onto the ladies now, where adjectives might become insufficient. Mind you I am very picky about my adjectives and I really mean them. One lady who came in a saree was looking absolutely gorgeous. When I saw her, I was stunned. This doesn’t happen to me much, running out of...

the one with the new year

A very happy new year to all. It is a brand new year but the same old times. This New Year party was quite good. Our college group had come to Hyderabad to celebrate the occasion and there was some fun in it. Most of them are the same people they were in college. The ones that had changed were quite interesting. Overall it was fun to see people enjoying themselves. Now we are back to our mundane lives. (I don’t really feel mundane during the weekdays, but on weekends I feel so. Strange, I know) Keyboard, Italian and French                 Surprisingly I have not made any progress in keyboard. I’m learning the song “Yellow” by Coldplay. How simple is that song! Yet so difficult to play. I am stuck on that for 3 weeks now. Some timing issues are recurring. There are half notes in it, so some difficulty was expected. But hey, 3 weeks? It has become too much. Italian is going well though. I am finding the b...

2015 year review

Here we go. Wednesday night. Let’s write. It is the 23 rd and 24 th of December of 2015. Last one week of this year. It has been a year with some ups and downs (well, which year isn’t?) It has been an enjoyable ride for sure. This year began with it being the last semester of college. It created a very different atmosphere in our hostel. People were placed or were getting placed all over the place. We were happy for each other but also sad that the joy ride that was college was coming to an end. When the roller coaster goes up, you get a rush of adrenaline. But when the ride comes to a halt, you do not have the same feeling. I’m unable to express that feeling in words here (Help me!). We enjoyed the time we spent together, not knowing what is going to happen next. After being done with the education phase of my life (I hope I resume it sometime in the future, don’t tell my manager!), I started with the next phase. I landed a job at a company not many people knew (not that I...

some nostalgia and random thoughts

Two weeks have passed since I last wrote a blog post. Not much has happened, yet there is stuff I can write about. Here I go; writing stuff that probably makes sense only to a few people. Birla Mandir:                 Last weekend we went to the Birla Mandir (again) and the Hussain Sagar Lake for sightseeing. Because we started late (as usual), we couldn’t go to the Salar Jung Museum or the Charminar. So we went to the Birla Mandir. It is a wonderful place, with a tranquility not usually found in cities. Also fresh air, which is increasingly becoming a rare commodity. After enjoying the view from the top, we sat down and started chatting. I remember being distracted, didn’t follow the conversation unfolding beside me. I see kids playing there and parents watching them. The sight really made me nostalgic. I mean, how wonderful it would be to be a kid again! No worries, no drama, no frustration etc. etc. Be...
